I've lived here for 30 years. Here's the honest truth about each month — not what travel companies tell you, but what it's actually like to be here.
The season is just starting. Most tourist businesses open from mid-April. Quieter, cheaper, and the island is beautifully green. Sea is still a bit fresh for long swims but perfectly fine on a warm day.
🌸 Best for: Sightseeing, hiking, quiet beaches, low prices
One of my favourite months. Warm enough for beach and swimming, not yet crowded. Everything is open and running but you can still get sunbeds without fighting for them. Boat trips are running daily.
🏖️ Best for: Beach, boat trips, value for money
Getting hot now. Sea is warm and inviting. Nightlife is fully in swing. Still not at the extreme July/August crowds — this is peak season without the peak chaos. Great all-round month.
🎉 Best for: Everything — beach, nightlife, boat parties, activities
The busiest month. Absolutely packed — Nissi Beach is sunbed to sunbed, queues everywhere in peak hours. The energy is electric but expect crowds, higher prices and need to pre-book everything. The sea is bath-warm.
⚠️ Pre-book EVERYTHING — boats, restaurants, cars
Hottest month of the year. The sea reaches its warmest. Everything is fully booked weeks ahead. If you're coming in August, plan and book everything well in advance — this is not a month for spontaneous decisions.
🔥 Hottest sea, most energy — book months ahead
My personal favourite month to recommend. The crowds thin out from mid-September but the weather, sea temperature and nightlife are still absolutely perfect. Prices drop. You can get sunbeds. Everything is still open and running.
⭐ Best month overall — warm sea, thinner crowds, lower prices
Still excellent. Sea is still warm enough to swim comfortably. Some businesses start to close from mid-October but the beaches and main restaurants are open. Perfect for couples and families wanting warmth without the crowds.
🍂 Perfect for couples — warm, quiet, value for money
Most tourist businesses close. The town is very quiet. Good for long walks, sightseeing without crowds, cheap accommodation. Some rain. Not beach weather — but still mild compared to northern Europe. The locals love it.
🚶 Good for: Hiking Cape Greco, peaceful sightseeing, very cheap
