I have lived in Ayia Napa for over 30 years and watched every hotel on this coastline open, close, renovate and change ownership. The rankings below are my honest opinion — nobody pays me to recommend them. The most important decision when booking a hotel in Ayia Napa is not which hotel, but which area. Get that right and you'll have a great holiday regardless of the hotel.
This is the most important decision. The wrong area ruins the holiday regardless of the hotel.
Booking a cheap hotel on or near Nissi Avenue when you have young children or want early nights. The noise from clubs and bars carries until 4–5am every night in July and August. Always check the hotel's exact location on Google Maps before booking.
Calm beaches, kids clubs, pools and away from the noise. These are the ones I recommend to families.
Close to the clubs, lively atmosphere, great for groups. Don't expect quiet nights.
Away from the noise, beautiful settings, perfect for honeymoons and romantic breaks.

June and September are the sweet spot — just as warm and beautiful as July/August but 30–40% cheaper on hotels and flights. The beaches are less crowded and the whole experience is more relaxed. If you have flexibility on dates, avoid the first two weeks of August at all costs — that's peak of peak.
